Legacy Man... Sigh
It's 1986. One year earlier, Legacy Comics was acquired by the larger Cover Comix. The merge hit a few bumps along the way; Legacy Girl was perhaps the largest and bumpiest of all.
The Bronze Age had shown that Legacy Girl was progressive. Some (AKA Cover Comix) may say too progressive. So... they axed her, against Joey Manning's wishes, and replaced her with Lionel Moore, AKA Legacy Man. Like Legacy Girl's predecessor Robert Brand, Lionel was a soldier. He was granted his powers after an act of bravery, but not by the previous holder of Legacy - apparently, just by magic. This removed the 'passing of the torch' motif that was prominent in Legacy Girl's storyline, and as such, Legacy Man never took any sidekicks.
Overall, Legacy Man was a dime a dozen gritty emo superheroes during this age. He didn't really stand for anything, unlike Legacy Girl, and while his sales were fine, he could never outcompete other, more established heroes. Legacy Man's run came to an end in Legacy Man #115 as the world began to prepare for the new millenium.
